Initially created during a residency at LaB Launchpad in France, this series of ink paintings developed after experimenting with various fabrics found in local Charente countryside thrift stores. After exploring this technique over several years, a long process of finding the right fabric, ink, and conditions emerged to achieve the appearance of a delicate creeping effect across the fabric.
The series draws inspiration from ancient masks and stone statues with weathered, degraded facial features, moving clear expression into ambiguity. This work exists amidst a wider exploration of how internal states are translated and distorted externally.
